Rise of Antiochus Epiphanes

A contemptible person will arise who has not been given the honor of royalty. He will invade the kingdom when its people feel secure. He will set up the abomination of desolation in the temple and abolish the daily sacrifice. Those who violate the covenant he will corrupt by flattery, but the people who know their God will firmly resist.
Historical Fulfilment

Antiochus IV Epiphanes (175-164 BC) desecrated the Jerusalem Temple by erecting an altar to Zeus and sacrificing a pig. This triggered the Maccabean revolt and is commemorated in Hanukkah.
